What is a brand? A brand is something that defines a specific business or company. What defines a brand? Plenty of things define a person or business’s personal brand. A brand is what pops into the mind’s eye when someone thinks of you or your business. A good brand should stand out and be well known and recognized. A good brand should represent you in the best light possible.

Connie Pheiff at Talent Concierge has been a coach for many high-profile individuals in how to maximize their personal brands. She recently provided some key points to pay attention to for your own brand.

Be intentional with your image

People will become familiar with your brand based on the way you portray it. For example, if you portray your brand as a fun loving and laid-back company, that’s what people will know you for. If you portray your business as professional and strict, people will know your brand as a “no nonsense” type of business. What do you want your company to be known for?

Stay genuine over time

Not only is it important that your brand is portrayed accurately, it is also important that your brand be sustainable. One of the most important things to remember when building your brand: the way you and your company behaves will directly affect your brands’ sustainability. For example, media personalities are judged by how he/she presents his/herself both through the media, and through their own personal life. The same principles apply to personal branding. Your brand will not last if you or your company are not coming off as genuine and authentic.

Sustainability is your responsibility. You have to maintain the image you want your brand to portray. A lot of people will stick with a certain brand because they know it is genuine, authentic or family oriented. If your name was on the front-page news… what do you want them to say about you? When building your personal brand, think about what your company stands for. What kind of brand values and behaviors do you want your company to portray?

Engage people’s emotions

Emotional engagement is a big part of learning to create a brand that is long lasting, and memorable. People are prompted to choose one brand over another based-on emotion. Using emotional engagement to connect with customers and clients will build a brand that people will trust over any other for years to come, regardless of what another brand may be offering. Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed perfect formula for creating a brand that will last and become successful. However, there are certain tips and tricks that can help you understand what it will take for your brand to be successful and long lasting. If you’re in the process of building your own personal brand and have hit a few bumps in the road, you may want to implement some new strategies to help improve the success rate of your brand.

Learn more about emotional engagement and incorporate that into the building process of your brand. Remain organized and transparent. Organizational happiness is something every brand should portray. If you don’t master organization within your company, it will be quite hard to service your clients in a professional manner.
